Mottled White Linerboard

The Mottled White Board, also referred to as White, Oyster White, KLA White, and White Top, is highly favored for a wide range of corrugated white applications. This option boasts a clay-coated CCNB linerboard, complete with a naturally off-white surface with kraft undertones, lending itself to moderate quality printing. For those seeking maximum color vibrancy, however, bleached white and Kemi are excellent alternatives, offering even brighter and glossier finishes, respectively.

Why use it

  • Off-white surface with natural kraft undertones
  • Most economical option for white corrugated
  • Highest recycled content option

Why not use it

  • Kraft undertones can make your design appear less vibrant than on bleached white or Kemi.

Overview

Mottled board is a popular liner board used in the packaging industry for creating white corrugated packaging. It is made from Kraft paper and is highly recyclable, with up to 100% recycled content. The liner has a distinct off-white hue, owing to the fact that it is not fully bleached like typical white printing paper. This gives it a unique kraft brown undertone throughout, making it an ideal choice for creating white corrugated packaging. Additionally, it is cost-effective, widely available, and provides more accurate color output when printed on. However, the natural undertones of the material create a 'no gloss' finish when printed on, resulting in a more subdued appearance for the designs.
